Job summary

Bridgeport Hospital, part of Yale NewHaven Health, seeks a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using radioisotopes. You will work under Radiology leadership, ensure safety, accuracy, and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities include administering radiopharmaceuticals, maintaining NRC records, and training staff. CNMT certification and experience in PET imaging preferred; strong attention to quality and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an approved program in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
• Experience in Nuclear Medicine Technology. Additional experience in PET imaging is preferred.
• CNMT Certification.

• Performs all Nuclear Medicine procedures.
• Maintains records in accordance with NRC license/Regulatory guidelines for radiation safety.
• Orders supplies and radiopharmaceuticals as required.
• Instructs Hospital personnel on proper handling of isotopes and procedures in the event of contamination.
• Plans and/or implements care for assigned patients.

Performs diversified Nuclear Medicine duties involving the use of radioisotopes for therapeutic and imaging protocols. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

• 1.Performs all Nuclear Medicine procedures.
  • 1.1Demonstrates competent and proficient use of the Hospital Picture Achieving System (PACS) as observed by the supervisor and Radiologist.
• 2.Performs test and maintenance procedures on equipment and apparatus.
  • 2.1Regularly checks equipment for operational readiness, safety and accuracy as indicated by random review of maintenance log.
• 3.Prepares radiopharmaceuticals for administration and administers to patient.
  • 3.1Readies radiopharmaceuticals in accordance to prescribed dose as observed by Radiologist.
• 4.Maintains records in accordance with NRC license/Regulatory guidelines for radiation safety.
  • 4.1Completes required records as outlined by the NRC license as indicated by random quarterly review of records.
• 5.Monitors Hot Lab and department radiation levels.
  • 5.1Performs wipe test in all areas of department according to protocol as observed by supervisor.
• 6.Orders supplies and radiopharmaceuticals as required.
  • 6.1Maintains an efficient level of inventory as observed by supervisor.
• 7.Instructs Hospital personnel on proper handling of isotopes and procedures in the event of contamination.
  • 7.1Willingly and conscientiously provides instruction to other personnel as assigned and observed by supervisor.
• 8.Assists with the training of new staff, residents and students.
  • 8.1Participates in the orientation of new staff, students and radiology residents as required and observed by supervisor.
• 9.Plans and/or implements care for assigned patients.
  • 9.1Demonstrates knowledge of developmental stages from adolescence to old age and applies developmental theories/concepts when planning and implementing care for the adult patient as observed by supervisor and as indicated by feedback from staff.
• 10.Accurately enters all applicable information and charges for procedures.
  • 10.1Enters all patients ordered information into the RIS according to department protocol as observed by the manaager.
• 11.Contributes to an effective quality management and quality control program for assigned area that is consistent with overall departmental/hospital quality management plan.
  • 11.1Monitors Q.A. activities in accordance to section plan as observed by supervisor.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Graduation from an approved program in Nuclear Medicine Technology.

EXPERIENCE

Experience in Nuclear Medicine Technology. Additional experience in PET imaging is preferred

LICENSURE

CNMT Certification.
