Qualifications

  • Ideal candidate should have 2 years' experience in Nuclear Medicine.
  • Must be ARRT registered in Nuclear Medicine or CNMT certified.
  • Certification as a Radiologic Technologist in Florida is necessary.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

JOB SUMMARY

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist demonstrates competence in the area of Nuclear Medicine and patient care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Demonstrates competency in operating all cameras and other department equipment to perform Nuclear Medicine procedures, including imaging techniques, camera and computer manipulations, processing and display of data as well as protocols and protocols manipulations.
  • Understands principles and concept of radiation safety. Maintains proper documentation of all radiopharmaceuticals in the Hot Lab Dose Management Computer System (SYNTRAC) according to procedure and in compliance with all regulatory agencies. This includes but is not limited to receipts, storage, usage and disposal of radioactive patient dose and administration records.
  • Demonstrates competency in performing all Nuclear medicine equipment Quality Control (QC) and demonstrates knowledge and capability in troubleshooting when errors are identified. Maintain proper document of all equipment QC’s by filing and/or record in the SYNTRAC system.
  • Demonstrates support and follows policies for the Radiography Student Program.
  • Provides all aspects of patient care based on established standards. Demonstrates competency in all procedures within scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of patients served; the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs; knowledge of growth and development and an understanding of the range of treatment of the patients.
  • Participates in the peer interview process; interview and hire.
  • Demonstrates competency using the Radiographic Information System.
  • Demonstrates competency using the PACS.
  • Demonstrates competency in Departmental communication (telephone, pagers and intercom.
  • Maintains clean and well stocked work area.
  • Assists in training and orientation of new employees as needed.
  • Strives to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all employees.
  • Met and exceeds the expectations of patients and all other customers we serve.
  • Actively assists and supports departmental activities to ensure that operational and salary expenses are equal to or less than approved budget.
  • Understands the principles and concepts of Performance Improvement. Looks for opportunities and solutions for process improvements and seeks to improve job skills.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School or GED required.
  • Satisfactory completion of a formal Nuclear Medicine Program in an approved school.
  • 2 years’ experience in Nuclear Medicine Preferred.
  • ARRT Registered in Nuclear Medicine (N) -or- Registered CNMT from NMTCB.
  • Licensed as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) in the State of Florida with a qualification in Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Basic computer knowledge: ability to operate a PC, create/save/print documents, input data.
