Job summary

OhioHealth is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to operate imaging devices, ECG units, and related equipment in a fully equipped Nuclear Medicine department. The role involves performing scintigraphic scans, image processing, and quality control to ensure high-quality patient studies.

The position requires an approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program, CNMT or ARRT certification, BLS, and an active NMTCB/NMTCB credential.

Qualifications

• Graduate of approved training program in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
• Registered with NMTCB as CNMT or with ARRT in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
• ODH Radiologic License as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
• BLS Certification.

Responsibilities

• 55% Performs scintigraphic scanning as prescribed by physician.
• 25% Performs image manipulation and quantitative studies.
• Archives patient studies on computer and quality control studies.
• 5% Receives, stores, and prepares radioactive and non-radioactive materials in preparation of patient doses.
• Assures availability of proper doses for patients.
• 5% Performs quality control and maintenance procedures for scanning; maintains quality control and wipe survey statistics.
• Assures all equipment is performing properly to obtain quality examinations.
• 5% Consults with physicians; shows images and/or computer patient studies to radiologist and/or cardiologist.
• Provides physicians with quality data for interpretation.
• 3% Administers diagnostic or therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals under physician direction.
• 2% Demonstrates sensitivity to the physical and emotional needs of the patient.

Job Description Summary

Responsibilities And Duties

• 55% Performs scintigraphic scanning as prescribed by physician.
• 25% Performs image manipulation and quantitative studies.
• Archives patient studies on computer and quality control studies.
• 5% Receives, stores, and prepares radioactive and non-radioactive materials in preparation of patient doses.
• Assures availability of proper doses for patients.
• 5% Performs quality control and maintenance procedures for scanning; maintains quality control and wipe survey statistics.
• Assures all equipment is performing properly to obtain quality examinations.

• 2% Demonstrates sensitivity to the physical and emotional needs of the patient through good communication.
• Provides appropriate patient education, patient assessment, patient monitoring and overall patient care.
• Assists physician with intricate imaging procedures as needed.

Additional Job Description

Graduate of approved training program in Nuclear Medicine Technology. Registered with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB) as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) or with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine Technology. ODH Radiologic License as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. BLS Certification. Familiarity with all aspects of a fully-equipped Nuclear Medicine department. Extensive knowledge of handling, administering radioactive materials and knowledge of nuclear instrumentation and its use. Experienced Technologist with the skills necessary to work in full service Nuclear Medicine department.
