Job summary

Piedmont Atlanta Hospital is seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to perform diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures across various age groups, ensuring adherence to ALARA and quality control procedures. You will review requisitions, communicate with patients about procedures, and safeguard staff and patients during tests.

The role requires graduation from an accredited Nuclear Medicine program and current certifications (ARDMS/ARRT, CNMT, NMTCB) plus BLS.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Nuclear Medicine program accredited by JRCNMT or NMTCB.
• 1 year of experience required.
• AR D MS/ARRT - Nuclear Medicine Tech, CNMT, or NMTCB registration required upon hire.
• BLS certification required upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Performs diagnostic and therapeutic Nuclear Medicine and/or Nuclear Cardiology procedures following protocols and ALARA.
• Reviews exam requisitions and notes pertinent information.
• Determines quality of radiopharmaceuticals from suppliers.
• Explains procedures and safety precautions to patients and assists during tests.
• Protects patients and staff during all exams.
• Maintains records and licenses per regulatory agencies.
• Performs advanced imaging and post-processing with Syngo Via.
• Mentors students and junior technologists.
• Ensures regulatory compliance for the department.

Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBLE FOR: Performs diagnostic and therapeutic Nuclear Medicine and/or Nuclear Cardiology procedures according to all Protocols, Policies and Procedures and adhering to A.L.A.R.A. programs. Performs all quality control procedures in accordance with manufacturer, state and federal guidelines.

What you will do

• Demonstrates competence and proficiency in performing all required nuclear medicine exams on patients of all age groups, positioning the patient and equipment, selecting the protocol, technique and utilizing all required equipment.
• Reviews all exam requisitions for pertinent information and makes notes on all additional pertinent information.
• Determine the quality of radiopharmaceutical received from suppliers.
• Explains test procedures and safety precautions to patients and provide them with assistance during test procedures.
• Protects self, patient and other personnel during all nuclear medicine exams.
• Maintains all required records, reports, licenses and files as required by Federal, State and other regulatory agencies.
• Maintains proficiency to perform all advanced imaging in nuclear medicine.
• Assist with performing and planning multiple diagnostic procedures in appropriate time sequences.
• Acts as a mentor for students and junior technologists.
• Ensures department meets all regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrates the ability to post-process advance imaging procedures by using applications such as Syngo Via.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduate of a Nuclear Medicine program accredited by either the Joint Review Committee on Education Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology (JRCNMT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 1 year of experience required

MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:

• (N) ARDMS or ARRT - Nuclear Med Tech Upon Hire Required or
• CNMT - Certified Nuclear Med Tech CNMT registered Upon Hire Required or
• NMTCB - Nuclear Medicine Tech NMTCB registered Upon Hire Required
• BLS - Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required
