Job summary

Monday - Friday (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM) with Rotating Call

Position Overview

The Nuclear Med Tech, under the supervision of the Chief Nuclear Medicine Technologist and Radiologist, performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures utilizing radiopharmaceuticals. The role requires professional judgment in performance of services and application of radiation protection principles for self and patients. The Nuclear Med Tech must be proficient in vascular access, operate equipment requiring detailed concentration for extended periods, maintain an adequate inventory of supplies, and perform quality control and assurance of equipment.

The Nuclear Med Tech helps ensure that the Radiology department meets accreditation agency standards and achieves the Health System objectives. The technician assists with the development and revision of policies, procedures, and protocols as requested.

Education

Associate’s degree in a health field required. Graduate of an approved Nuclear Radiology Technology Program required.

License

Must be currently licensed as a Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist, RT Nuclear Medicine Technologist, or a Medical Radiation Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board, Inc. (NMTCB). Must be licensed by the Mississippi State Department of Health.

Certifications

Must complete and maintain BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer. Must have de‑escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days) and possess an appropriate level of de‑escalation training.

Experience

Prior experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist preferred.

Lead Nuclear Radiology Technologist; Operations Manager

Physical Demands

Stands, turns, bends, stoops, lifts, climbs, and uses many physical motions in performing day‑to‑day activities. Must be able to stand for extended periods and walk without undue fatigue. May be exposed to communicable disease or radiation.

Work involves perceiving sounds at normal speaking levels, and requires minimum standard of visual acuity. Must be able to adjust focus between computer monitor and forms.

Mental Demands

Requires keen mental faculties for assessment and decision making. Superior communication skills for receiving and giving information in person and by telephone. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Emotional stability to deal with high stress levels. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Attention to detail and ability to multi‑task in complex situations.

Special Demands

Superior customer service skills and professional etiquette required. Proficient knowledge of computer use (keyboard, MS Outlook, Word). Exposure to communicable diseases, CRT equipment, blood/body fluids, and electromagnetic energy.
