Job summary

Antares is seeking a Materials Engineer to develop and qualify materials for its nuclear reactor systems, including ceramics and metallic alloys. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in materials engineering.
  • Experience with metals.
  • Proficiency in optical and electron microscopy as well as mechanical property evaluation.
  • Go-getter attitude – you'll find a way to get it done.

Responsibilities

  • Partake in development and qualification for all reactor materials, including lifetime testing and cross-institutional collaboration.
  • Design and conduct physical, thermal, and mechanical testing of materials that replicates the reactor environment.
  • Employ statistical methods to evaluate effects of process variables and environmental effects on materials properties.
  • Materials characterization including root cause investigations of failure modes.
  • Interface with manufacturing, neutronics, mechanical, testing, and quality engineers to integrate materials into the system and optimize limits.
