Job summary

UT-Battelle operates Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in Oak Ridge, TN. We seek an Operations Engineer to focus on nuclear nonproliferation research with hands-on Uranium processing, design work, and part procurement across related programs.

The role requires deep engagement in fuel cycle processes, collaboration with sponsors, and ability to travel. Q and TS/SCI clearances are preferred; visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Chemical, Nuclear, or Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years related experience.
• M.S. in Chemical, Nuclear, or Mechanical Engineering with 4+ years related experience.
• Experience in chemical engineering design processes.
• Familiarity with the Nuclear Fuel Cycle.
• Q Clearance and TS/SCI Clearance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in projects that design, fabricate, assemble, and operate nuclear fuel cycle unit operations.
• Contribute to R&D projects involving nuclear fuel cycle processes.
• Interface with ORNL staff and sponsors.
• Drive deliverables to completion with documentation and proposals; participate in research proposals.
• Collaborate with investigators, management, engineers, scientists, technicians, operators, fabricators, and modelers.
