Job summary

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is seeking a Nuclear Engineering Intern to join our team in Devens, MA. This 13–18 week internship offers 40–50 hours per week with set hourly salary based on year in school, onsite work, and project-based assignments across nuclear engineering tasks.

Interns must be authorized to work in the United States; opportunities exist for bachelor’s through PhD candidates. Rates range by year of study with comprehensive benefits including insurance and 401(k).

Qualifications

• Pursuing an engineering degree with focus in Nuclear Engineering.
• Complete Neutron Transport or Neutronics or a Reactor Theory course by start.
• Experience with MCNP or OpenMC.
• Strong communication skills and teamwork.
• Optional: CAD and Python / C++ in neutronics methods.

Responsibilities

• Work on neutronics analyses such as energy deposition in materials or shielding sensitivity studies.
• Collaborate with engineers on the Nuclear Engineering team to do neutronics calculations to support design and operation of SPARC and ARC scoping.
• Contribute to computational development of methods and workflows for neutronics analyses.
