Job summary
Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a Nuclear Criticality Safety Analyst to provide technical guidance ensuring subcritical conditions for fissionable material operations. Role includes leading evaluations, conducting reviews, and mentoring junior staff in criticality safety practices.
Positions are available at Analyst 3 or 4 levels, with responsibilities expanding at the higher level. On-site work in Los Alamos, NM with eligibility for security clearances and access to comprehensive LANL
Qualifications
- 7–8 years in criticality safety or related field
- Advanced knowledge of NCS, evaluations, and DOE/ANSI standards
- Ability to communicate complex NCS concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience mentoring junior analysts in NCS practices
Responsibilities
- Provide technical guidance to operating organizations to ensure subcritical operations
- Lead NCS evaluations as the lead analyst and review others' work
- Conduct periodic reviews of fissionable material operations and NCS reports
- Lead and participate in NCS assessments, audits, and emergency response planning
- Prepare and present technical reports for LANL and the broader criticality-safety community
