Job Title: Nuclear Core Design Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for Nuclear Core Design Engineers. As a Nuclear Core Engineer at Westinghouse, you will report to the Manager of Core Engineering.

Responsibilities:

1. Participate in nuclear design training leading to Westinghouse Nuclear Design (ND) qualification.
2. Understand and embrace the nuclear culture, applying human performance tools and operational experience to produce high-quality, error-free deliverables.
3. Perform nuclear core design reload calculations using internal and external simulation codes, following internal methodologies and consulting with experienced engineers.
4. Interpret results and collaborate with verifiers to produce and deliver quality calculations to operating PWR plants.
5. Attend engineering seminars to maintain qualification and apply lessons learned.
6. Work with a core reload team and coordinate with nuclear plant customers to provide analyses on a core reload schedule.
7. Interface with internal groups (Thermal Hydraulics, Fuel Rod Design, Project Management) and external groups (Safety Analysis, Licensing).

Examples of nuclear design calculations include:

• Best Estimate Core Models and Core Monitoring Input
• Core Startup Calculations and Low Power Physics Testing
• Economical Models and Technical Descriptions

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Nuclear Engineering
• 0+ years of experience; applicable experience preferred
• Interest in Core Neutronics and Nuclear Fuel Design
• Simulation experience preferred but not required
