Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Inc. (Newport News Shipbuilding) seeks an NDT technician to perform non-destructive testing on materials and assemblies, inspecting for defects with radiography, ultrasound, penetrant, and related methods.

The role requires an Associate’s Degree (or equivalent) with 1 year of relevant experience and the ability to obtain a Confidential DoD security clearance. On-site work in Newport News, VA with comprehensive benefits.

The Role

Performs non-destructive tests (NDT) on materials, manufactured items, or components. Inspects metallic and nonmetallic materials, parts and assemblies for defects using automated and manual methods and techniques including radiography, ultrasound, penetrant, eddy current, laser shearography, and magnetic particle. Requires certifications in non-destructive testing in accordance with regulations.

Must Have

Associate's Degree and 1 years of relevant experience

One of the following may be used as equivalent to Associate's Degree to meet minimum qualifications:

• High School/GED and 2 years of related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience
• High School/GED and 4 years of non-related Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience

Nice to Have

Must be able to obtain and maintain a minimum of Confidential DoD Security clearance.
