Job summary

Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) seeks an experienced supervisor to provide engineering support for the NSTX-U cooling water, liquid and gas systems. You will oversee operations, maintenance, and safety programs, and supervise staff across Fluids, Section Supervision, and Operations support.

Responsibilities include developing procedures, managing spare parts, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality guidelines. A PE license is highly desirable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or related Engineering field with 8+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 6+ years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in a supervisory or lead technical role.
  • Process experience with industrial fluid systems equipment including pumps, valves, piping, control systems, and water chemistry.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance of pumps, heat exchangers, valves, and pressure relief devices, and developing maintenance programs.
  • Experience in preparing technical documentation such as O&M procedures, P&IDs, and process flow diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical oversight of operations, maintenance, and configuration management for experimental systems.
  • Develop and maintain procedures, specifications, maintenance and inspection plans, drawings, and training materials.
  • Define and maintain spare parts inventory.
  • Provide design support for corrective maintenance of system components.
  • Prepare engineering calculations and models to support system control and operation.
  • Oversee operator training and troubleshooting for experiments.
  • Lead and direct assigned technical staff and supervise daily work.
  • Coordinate startup, operation, and shutdown of high power systems.
  • Ensure operations stay within safety parameters and respond to fault conditions.
