Job summary

UCAR’s NSF SOARS program offers undergraduates a summer research internship focused on atmospheric and Earth system sciences. Proteges gain hands-on research experience, dedicated mentorship, and a supportive community to launch their careers in STEM.

The role includes completing research tasks, writing assignments, and preparing presentations and posters. Applicants must be enrolled in an undergrad or associate degree program and meet GPA and coursework requirements.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program; or associate’s degree program.
• Must have completed at least one year of undergrad.
• Bachelor’s degree holders are ineligible to apply.
• Academic major in atmospheric science or related field with interest in STEM careers.
• Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher; address GPA if below 3.0 in essay.

Responsibilities

• Gain hands-on research experience in atmospheric/ESS.
• Engage in mentoring and community activities.
• Complete weekly writing assignments and meet deadlines.
• Develop and deliver two scientific presentations and a poster.
