Job summary

Wescon Controls in Wichita, KS seeks an NPI & Test Lab Intern to assist with sampling, fixturing and testing for mechanical and electrical components.

You will analyze test system requirements, perform operational testing, and help with initial sample production runs, ensuring tools and equipment are available. This role offers exposure to data acquisition, testing software, and cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electronics or Industrial Engineering.
• Knowledge of testing and data acquisition equipment.
• Electronics background with understanding of circuits.

Responsibilities

• Analyze test system requirements.

• Perform light testing: pull tests, torque tests, variability studies.

• Recommend design modifications of electronics testing or systems based on environment, service, cost or capabilities.
• Be dependable and professional, adhering to scheduled work.

Job description

The NPI & Test Lab Intern will assist with sampling, fixturing and testing for mechanical and electrical components for commercial and industrial applications.

Essential Functions:

• Analyze test system requirements
• Perform operational testing procedures for electronic products, components, equipment, or systems.
• Operate computer-assisted engineering or design software or equipment to perform electronics engineering tasks.
• Assist in initial sample production runs. Ensures appropriate tools & machines are available
• Preform light testing capabilities. Pull tests / Torque tests / Variability Studies. Engineering Standard requirements.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Production and Quality Control developing Process Control Plans.
• Recommend design modifications of electronics testing or systems, based on factors such as environment, service, cost, or system capabilities.
• Dependable to work when scheduled and to conduct self in a professional manner

Required Education and Experience:

• Currently a Junior at an accredited University working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic or Industrial Engineering
• Knowledge of testing and data acquisition equipment.
• Electronics background with understanding of circuits and applications
• Operating System knowledge

Physical Demands/ Equipment Used to perform the job:

• Must be able to climb stairs and walk through manufacturing facilities with uneven floors, fluctuating temperatures and moving machinery
• Must be able to wear appropriate PPE in areas of production (i.e., Safety glasses, ear plugs, etc.)
• Test lab environment with cycle testing equipment. Requires lifting of product/supplies ranging from minimal to 50 pounds on occasional basis and may periodically require it throughout a production shift.
• Individuals will be required to be mobile, with bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping and crouching.
