Job summary

Keysight Technologies in Santa Rosa, CA, is seeking an SMT Process Engineer to develop and optimize surface mount processes for rapid prototype builds and early manufacturability validation. You will partner with R&D, quality, and operations to improve FPY and speed up design-to-build learning cycles.

The role focuses on fast iteration, DFM input, and hands-on troubleshooting of SMT equipment, including printers, pick-and-place, and reflow systems, to enable quick-turn NPI runs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering or related field.
• 3–7+ years SMT process engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with SMT equipment (printer, pick-and-place, reflow, AOI/SPI/AXI).
• Strong knowledge of SMT processes, solder behavior, and defect mechanisms.
• Experience with DOE, SPC, PFMEA, Cp/Cpk and root cause methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize SMT processes for rapid prototype and NPI builds.
• Create and refine stencil designs, pick-and-place programs, reflow profiles, and AOI/AXI programs.
• Drive FPY improvement and root cause analysis during prototype builds.
• Collaborate with R&D, QC and operations to enable fast iteration and manufacturability.
