Job summary

AMACO, a fourth-generation family‑run ceramics company in Indianapolis, seeks a Senior Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineer to own prototype development, process design, and the transition to production. You will lead cross‑functional teams, drive NPI, and optimize cost, quality, and throughput using CAD tools and data‑driven methods.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or Technology (Industrial or Mechanical) from an accredited university.
• Preferred: 10+ years guiding products from design through market release.
• Preferred exposure to welding, fabrication, electronics, pneumatics, hydraulics, millwright work, controls, plumbing, and carpentry.

Responsibilities

• Prototype development and fabrication of functional prototypes and engineering models.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues; electrical troubleshooting may be required.
• Plan and execute tests, validation, and performance checks against requirements.
• Create detailed drawings, BOMs, specs, and product documentation.
• Lead process validation and pilot builds to prove readiness for scale.
• Drive the transition from prototype to production; support NPI and ramp activities.
• Author work instructions, process docs, and quality standards; train operators.
