Job summary

Amphenol Corporation is seeking an NPI Automation Engineer to join the Cable Backplane Systems team in Valley Green, PA. You will collaborate with NPI engineers to embed automation in new product builds, review designs for automation feasibility, and guide fixture and material handling for scalable solutions.

The role requires PLC and robotics expertise, strong mechanical/electrical drawing interpretation, and willingness to travel globally for deployment and support across sites.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience as an Engineer in a manufacturing environment with a bachelor or associated degree in a technical field or 5+ years of experience.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi).
  • Experience with robotics systems (e.g., FANUC, ABB, UR) and robotic integration.
  • Familiarity with HMI/SCADA systems and industrial communication protocols.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, pneumatics, sensors, and actuators.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and control diagrams.
  • Experience with vision systems, barcode readers, and part inspection tools is a plus.
  • Willing to travel globally and spend a significant amount of time executing automation deployment (50%+).

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with NPI engineering teams to integrate automation into new product builds.
  • Review product designs to identify automation opportunities and constraints.
  • Provide input on fixture design, part orientation, and material handling for automation compatibility.
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure manufacturability and scalability of automation solutions.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and validation of automation systems at international sites.
  • Train global teams on equipment operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Assist in scaling automation solutions from pilot to full production globally.
  • Support upgrades and retrofits of automation systems to improve performance and reliability.

Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. Our global headquarters are located in Nashua, NH and we have design, sales and manufacturing locations globally. We are currently seeking a Automation Engineer to join our Cable Backplane Systems engineering team. The position will be located in Valley Green, PA.
