Job summary

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency is seeking an Environmental Specialist 2 in the Division of Surface Water at its Central Office in Columbus, Ohio. This role focuses on issuing and reviewing NPDES permits, evaluating treatment facilities, and providing technical guidance to staff and the regulated community.

You will manage permit reporting, assist in training, and collaborate with the Ohio Department of Agriculture on CAFO issues, while maintaining compliance with laws and policies.

Qualifications

  • 12 months' experience as Environmental Specialist 1 or 4 years' training or 4 years' experience in related engineering position.
  • Baccalaureate degree in engineering in Sanitary, Geotechnical, Civil, Environmental, Agricultural or Chemical fields.

Responsibilities

  • Write, review, and process NPDES permits.
  • Respond to reports required by permits, ensuring compliance with state and federal laws.
  • Develop guidance, rules, and procedures for agency personnel and the regulated community.
  • Evaluate technical reports and specifications of treatment facilities and technologies.
  • Write and review CAFO permits and coordinate with the Ohio Department of Agriculture.
