NPI-NPD Builder
Pay: $22/$26/Hour depending on experience.
Location: Leander TX.
Reports to: NPD/NPI Project Engineer
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Classification: Non-exempt.
Position Summary
The NPD/NPI Builder supports the introduction of new products by assembling, testing, troubleshooting, and documenting prototype and pre-production units. This position works closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Production to identify manufacturability issues, improve assembly processes, and support a successful transition from development into production.
Key responsibilities
Perform task such as, but not limited to the following:
- Execute hands‑on builds for new product introductions across prototype, pilot, and full‑rate production within an established workflow.
- Verify that drawings, BOMs, work instructions, travelers, and other manufacturing documentation accurately reflect the intended build process.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues related to mechanical fit, assembly, and testing, partnering with Quality and Engineering to implement corrective actions and resolve root causes.
- Participate in NPI build reviews, lessons learned, root‑cause activities, and continuous improvement events.
- Show a strong willingness to adopt lean manufacturing practices to drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance NPD/NPI processes.
- Work overtime when required to support critical builds, customer commitments, or production ramp activities.
Qualifications
- Associate degree or technical diploma in Engineering Technology, Electronics, Manufacturing, or related field (or equivalent hands‑on experience).
- 5+ years of hands‑on experience in electro‑mechanical assembly or manufacturing environments.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, mechanical schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of materials.
- Good written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work well with others in cross‑functional teams or work groups.
- Experience with IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-A-610, ISO 9001, or similar manufacturing/quality standards
- Experience using standard hand tools, soldering equipment, multimeters
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to use MS Office suite and ERP systems.

- Required to sit for long periods of time and frequent use of hands and fingers to handle and feel.
- Moderate activity, with occasional bending, stooping, standing, and/or walking for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds while using safe lifting techniques.
- Speaking and hearing: able to comprehend normal speech.
- See and have visual capability: able to see screens, monitors, and the environment.
- Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time when on the production floor.
