Job summary

MPI, a leading global manufacturer of metal fabricated appliance products, seeks an NPD Manufacturing Engineer to lead new product introductions and optimize production at a Chicago-area site near Midway airport. You will partner with engineering and operations to drive manufacturability, validate designs, and implement PFMEAs/DFMEAs.

This role emphasizes lean methods, project leadership, and cost-focused continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, New Product Development, or Continuous Improvement.
  • Experience leading manufacturing process improvements and project implementation.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and problem-solving methodologies.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineering and operations teams to successfully launch new products into manufacturing.
  • Evaluate product designs for manufacturability and scalability.
  • Participate in design reviews and risk assessments to ensure production readiness.
  • Design and implement fixtures, tooling, and workholding solutions.
  • Analyze throughput, labor utilization, and production costs to improve operational performance.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects focused on productivity, quality, safety, and cost reduction.
  • Facilitate Kaizen events and Lean improvement activities.
  • Identify bottlenecks and implement solutions that improve flow and overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Promote a culture of operational excellence and problem-solving across the organization.
  • Develop and maintain PFMEAs and collaborate on DFMEAs and process validation.
  • Implement process controls to reduce risk and improve product quality.
  • Support root cause investigations and corrective action implementation.
  • Develop work instructions, visual aids, process documentation, and training materials.
  • Establish production routings, labor standards, and manufacturing cost models.

They are renowned in their industry for high-quality and have cemented themselves as a leader in their space. Their site located near Midway airport is thriving, and is adding an experienced Industrial Engineer to spearhead new product development.

Description
  • Partner with engineering and operations teams to successfully launch new products into manufacturing.

Profile

Job Offer
  • Base salary $95,000 - $115,000 depending on experience
  • 15 PTO Days + company holidays
