Job summary

UC San Diego Health is seeking a Per Diem Family Nurse Practitioner to provide same-day acute care at Express Care clinics across Eastlake, Encinitas, Rancho Bernardo, Pacific Highlands Ranch, Downtown and virtual Express Care. You will assess common illnesses and injuries and follow care plans under standardized guidelines.

The role requires an active CA RN license, CA NP license, FNP board certification, and at least two years of NP experience in Emergency/urgent care.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner Program (FNP).
• California Registered Nurse (RN) license and California Nurse Practitioner (NP) license, with Furnishing License Certification.
• Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) board certification.
• BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to obtain ART within six months.
• PALS certification or plan to obtain within six months.
• Minimum two years of NP experience in Emergency Department or Urgent/Express Care.
• Ability to triage and manage urgent situations; strong teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care coverage seven days a week at Express Care clinics and virtual Express Care.
• Float to all Express Care locations as needed.
• Assist with annual wellness exams, post-hospital follow ups, and population health initiatives.

This position will provide patient care coverage seven days a week, including various holidays, for various Express Care Clinics located in Eastlake, Encinitas, Rancho Bernardo, Pacific Highlands Ranch, Downtown or Virtual Express Care as well as future Express Care clinics in the division.

The Per Diem (PD) Nurse Practitioner (NP) will serve as an extension of patient care for UCSD Primary Care, providing same-day acute care for common health problems, such as colds and coughs, sore throats, ear infections, UTIs, superficial lacerations, and simple sprains and strains. The NP will also assist with improving access to primary care patients with chronic or acute needs, the provider will also assist with duties such as, but not limited to annual wellness exams, post-hospital follow ups, and population health initiatives as needed.

The NP will follow standardized advanced practice procedure guidelines to provide follow-through with the care plan. Assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge.

Must be able and willing to float to all Express Care locations as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Completion of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner Program (FNP).

• California Registered Nurse (RN) license, California Nurse Practitioner (NP) license, and Furnishing License Certification.

• Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) board certification.

• BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to get ART within six (6) months of hire date.

• Current PALS certification, or required to obtain within six (6) months of hire.

• Minimum of two (2) years of recent work experience as a licensed NP in an Emergency Department or Urgent/Express Care clinic.

• Ability to perform triage and handle critical and/or urgent situations with accuracy, expediency, and tact.

• Ability to manage own patient load.

• Must be able to work within a team environment.

• Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Three (3+) or more years of recent NP experience in Emergency and/or Urgent Care.

• Telemedicine or video visit experience.

• High-acuity triage and critical care experience.

• Urgent and primary care procedural experience (e.g. suturing, stapling, I&D, EKG and Basic Radiology interpretation).

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

• Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
• Variable work schedule. Must be able to work every other weekend and some holidays.
• Must be able to obtain UCSD Medical Staff privileges and maintain during employment.Due to advanced practice credentialing eligibility, clinical advanced practice experience must be within the last two years gained through school or work experience.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $247,052 - $247,052 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $118.32 - $118.32
