Job summary

AMG Tech Support is seeking skilled I.T./Telecom technicians to support our national client base. This role goes beyond basic helpdesk tasks — OS installations, hardware diagnostics, and structured cabling across diverse environments. You’ll be on-call and travel within an 80-mile radius as a 1099 contractor with on-site pay.

Ideal candidates have 1 year IT/Telecom experience and certifications (A+, Network+), or 5+ years field experience. Bring a reliable vehicle and essential tools to the role.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year IT/Telecom experience, and one of: A+ Certification, Network+ Certification, OR 5+ years verifiable field experience in IT/Telecom.
• Reliable personal vehicle required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Must have a standard set of IT and networking tools (e.g., screwdrivers, cable testers, crimpers).
• On-call 24/7 availability is a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

• OS installations, hardware diagnostics, and software setup.
• Structured cabling (drilling, running, and dressing cables).
• Telecom work (punch-downs, demarc extensions, etc.).
• Work independently across environments: retail, medical, restaurant, and corporate.
• Maintain professionalism with clients.
• Be on call and respond to service requests within your territory.

This role goes far beyond basic helpdesk tasks — one day you might be installing an operating system, the next you’re drilling through walls and running structured cabling across entire buildings, or terminating a 66-block.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of technical tasks including but not limited to:
  • OS installations, hardware diagnostics, and software setup
  • Structured cabling (including drilling, running, and dressing cables)
  • Telecom work (punch-downs, demarc extensions, etc.)
• Work independently across various environments: retail, medical, restaurant, and corporate
• Maintain a high standard of professionalism with clients
• Be on call and ready to respond to service requests within your territory

Preferred Skills & Experience

• PC and printer troubleshooting experience (a strong plus)
• At least 1 year of I.T. or Telecom experience, and one of the following:
  • A+ Certification
  • Network+ Certification
  • OR 5+ years verifiable field experience in I.T./Telecom
