Job summary

AMG Tech Support is seeking hands-on I.T. or Telecom technicians for field support across our national client base. This role goes beyond desk work, involving OS installs, cabling, and telecom tasks at varied sites.

You’ll work independently in retail, medical, restaurant, and corporate environments, staying on-call to meet service requests within your territory. We offer paid hourly on-site compensation, a 1099 contractor arrangement, travel pay within an ~80-mile radius, app-based tracking,

Qualifications

• Reliable personal vehicle required for travel within your territory.
• Valid driver’s license is a must.
• Must have a standard set of IT/network tools.
• Laptop with Ethernet port needed for field work.
• On-call 24/7 availability is a strong advantage.

Responsibilities

• OS installations, hardware diagnostics, and software setup.
• Structured cabling including drilling, running, and dressing cables.
• Telecom work such as punch-downs and demarc extensions.
• Work independently across retail, medical, restaurant, and corporate environments.
• Maintain a high standard of professionalism with clients.
• Be on call and ready to respond to service requests within your territory.

This role goes far beyond basic helpdesk tasks — one day you might be installing an operating system, the next you're drilling through walls and running structured cabling across entire buildings, or terminating a 66-block.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of technical tasks including but not limited to:
  • OS installations, hardware diagnostics, and software setup
  • Structured cabling (including drilling, running, and dressing cables)
  • Telecom work (punch-downs, demarc extensions, etc.)
• Work independently across various environments: retail, medical, restaurant, and corporate
• Maintain a high standard of professionalism with clients
• Be on call and ready to respond to service requests within your territory

Preferred Skills & Experience

• PC and printer troubleshooting experience (a strong plus)
• At least 1 year of I.T. or Telecom experience, and one of the following:
  • A+ Certification
  • Network+ Certification
  • OR 5+ years verifiable field experience in I.T./Telecom

Required Equipment & Qualifications

• Reliable personal vehicle (Public transportation not accepted)
• Valid driver’s license
• Must have a standard set of tools for basic I.T. and networking tasks (e.g., screwdrivers, cable testers, crimpers).
• Laptop with Ethernet port
• Smartphone with mobile hotspot
• Ability to accept job assignments based on your availability; being on-call 24/7 is a strong advantage.
• Punctual, courteous, and presentable
