Job summary

A leading AI research firm in California is seeking a Networking Operating System Firmware Engineer to develop and maintain SONiC NOS images for advanced AI supercomputers. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Linux kernel programming and ASIC integrations. This role offers a competitive salary and equity options and follows a hybrid work model, requiring presence in San Francisco three days per week.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working with SONiC or comparable NOS stacks.
• Experience with OpenConfig gNMI interfaces and YANG data models.
• Strong background in Linux kernel, network device drivers, and OS internals.
• Experience integrating ASIC SDKs and SAI implementations.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and large-scale automation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain custom SONiC NOS images.
• Integrate and configure Linux kernel components.
• Bring up new switch platforms.
• Extend and customize SONiC services.
• Validate ASIC configurations and link bring-up.
• Evaluate switch silicon SDK releases.
• Debug complex issues spanning numerous technologies.
• Integrate switches into fleet-wide monitoring and automation.
• Develop CI/build pipelines for NOS.
• Support factory bring-up and qualification across deployments.
• Collaborate to architect and deploy new networking technologies.
