ConocoPhillips Alaska is seeking a North Slope Chief Pilot to oversee turboprop flight operations, lead safety and training programs, and ensure compliant, reliable transport for passengers and freight. This role reports to AK Aviation leadership and requires strong leadership, Arctic operations experience, and FAA credentials.

The position is based at Alpine on the North Slope with a rotating 1 week on/1 week off schedule and a focus on safety, compliance, and cost-effective operations.

Qualifications

• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with airplane multi-engine rating.
• Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
• FCC Radiotelephone Operator Permit.
• 3500 hours total flight time.
• 2000 hours PIC in multi-engine airplanes.
• 500 hours in turbine airplanes.
• Willing and able to work in a remote location on a 1 week on/1 week off schedule.
• Experience in arctic environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates with airstrip support teams to resolve aviation facility issues.
• Directs planning, scheduling, and budgeting for North Slope pilot assignments.
• Develops and administers North Slope pilot training programs.
• Recruits and on-boards North Slope pilots and sets SMART goals with teams.
• Mentors staff and supports career development and IDP processes.
• Maintains North Slope pilot budgets and optimizes costs where feasible.
• Oversees documentation of turboprop policies and procedures.
• Collaborates with maintenance to ensure aircraft airworthiness.
• Performs flight duties as PIC in turboprop aircraft.

Alaska Overview

The Alaska segment primarily explores for, produces, transports and markets crude oil, natural gas and NGLs. We are the largest crude oil producer in Alaska and have major ownership interests in the Prudhoe Bay, Kuparuk and Western North Slope asset areas. Additionally, we are one of Alaska’s largest owners of state, federal and fee exploration leases, with approximately one million net undeveloped acres at year-end 2025. Alaska operations contributed 12 percent of our consolidated liquids production and one percent of our consolidated natural gas production.

In 2025, net crude oil production for Alaska averaged 199 MBOED.

Position Overview

As one of the world’s largest independent exploration and production companies, ConocoPhillips transports over 150,000 passengers annually in support of its business operations. Our Global Aviation Services group operates in the contiguous United States as well as the state of Alaska, and has an expansive fleet consisting of Q400, Gulfstream G550, Cessna Citation, Twin Otter, and Casa 212 aircraft.

ConocoPhillips Global Aviation Services is currently recruiting for a North Slope Chief Pilot. This position reports to the Manager & Director of Operations, Alaska Aviation and has direct supervisory responsibility for all assigned North Slope-based pilots. The North Slope Chief Pilot is the primary management focal point for supervising and managing North Slope turboprop flight operations to ensure safe, compliant, reliable, and efficient transport of ConocoPhillips Alaska passengers and freight. The incumbent interfaces locally with North Slope Business Unit management, partners, and passengers to ensure intra-North Slope air transportation and business requirements are being met.

This position is based at the Alpine facility on the North Slope with a rotating, weekly shift work schedule.

Your responsibilities may include:

• SAFETY: Pro-actively works to maintain and promote CPAI Aviation’s SMS by adopting a culture of zero tolerance towards at-risk behaviors; identifying, reporting, and correcting potential safety hazards; and intervening to immediately stop unsafe acts or situations.
• SECURITY: Follow CPAI policies, protocols and measures to safeguard company personnel, aircraft, facilities, technology, and intellectual property.
• QUALITY: Provide best-in-class service, which focuses on customer needs and meets or exceeds applicable regulations, standards; and work specifications.
• MISSION: Provide safe, compliant, reliable and efficient aviation solutions that provides focused support to customers’ operations through teamwork, customer service, and flexibility.
• Leads by example and ensures compliance with regard to ConocoPhillips' safety programs, policies, procedures and practices, to include the use and proper wear of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Proactively identifies, reports, and manages safety issues or irregularities for inclusion into the Company's Intelex safety database for assessment, risk analysis, follow-up, and corrective action.
• Provides local oversight and guidance for the conduct of North Slope-based turboprop flight operations and communicates any operational issues needing further management attention to the Manager, AK Aviation.
• Acts as the direct and single point of contact for all North Slope-based Aviation personnel and as the direct and single point of contact for all aviation issues with the operations teams on the slope
• Manages the aviation surveillance program for the North Slope Operations, ensuring procedures, practices, and metrics are in place to ensure consistency and reliability with the program
• Generates, evaluates, and shares metrics relating to North Slope Operations weekly and monthly to the broader organization
• Works directly with airstrip operations support teams on the North Slope to resolve all aviation related issues relating to the facilities used by the aviation department.
• Oversees planning, directing and scheduling of North Slope pilot work assignments IAW Federal/ State labor laws; CFRs; Company policies/procedures; and crew duty limit guidelines.
• Develops, manages, and administers North Slope pilot training programs to include indoctrination; initial/recurrent ground; consolidation; special qualification; and ancillary training.
• Recruits, evaluates, selects, and on-boards candidates for vacant North Slope pilot positions.
• Sets expectations and develops “SMART” goals with subordinates; documents goal attainment, rates performance, and calibrates relative contributions during performance management process.
• Mentors and facilitates individual employee growth, career development, and progression through mid-year review, Annual Performance, and Individual Development Plans (IDP) processes.
• Prepares and carries out North Slope pilot budget; reviews operations to contain and reduce costs where feasible; and exercises stewardship to ensure appropriate expenditure of resources.
• Oversees documentation of North Slope turboprop policies/procedures in the organizational and department manuals.
• Collaborate with aircraft maintenance supervisors/technicians to ensure airworthiness of aircraft.
• Performs regular flying duties with PIC qualification in at least one of the Company's North Slope turboprop aircraft.

Basic/Required:

• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Valid Passport without restrictions for international travel
• FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with airplane multi-engine land rating
• Current/valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate
• FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit
• 5 or more years of aviation industry experience
• Must have the minimum flight times as listed below:
• 3500 hours of total flight time
• 2000 hours of Pilot-in-Command time in multi-engine airplanes
• 500 hours in airplanes of similar complexity (turbine engine powered)
• Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to work in a remote work location on a 1 week on/1 week off work schedule
• Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation) to meet the physical demands and work environment requirements outlined in this job description

Preferred:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Aviation, Aeronautics, related technical field or foreign equivalent
• Current Certificated Flight Instructor – CFII, MEI
• 3 or more years of aviation leadership experience
• 3 or more years of experience in an aviation training or standards role
• 3 or more years of operational experience in an arctic environment
• Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft O365 applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

• Work in remote locations with exposure to temperature extremes and adverse weather conditions
• Work both in and out of company aircraft and vehicles
• Capable of physically lifting up to 50-pound loads with ability to access all approved areas of the DHC-6 and CASA-212 aircraft including the baggage and cabin areas
• Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and strict adherence to safety protocols
• This is a safety-sensitive position
