Job summary

Walden Local Meat Co. in New England connects member families to local farmers by ensuring monthly meat deliveries go smoothly. The North Delivery Specialist in Tewksbury, MA safely drives delivery vans, assists with loading, and coordinates with the Member Experience team to keep orders on track.

This full-time role offers 30–45 hours per week, a 5:00am departure start, DOT-compliant driving, and training for newcomers. Benefits include health coverage, PTO, and employee discounts.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License and a clean driving record for the past 3 years.
• Valid DOT medical card or ability to obtain prior to start date.
• Experience in home delivery or other commercial driving roles (Lyft/Uber/Instacart, etc.).
• Ability to lift 25–50 pounds and navigate varying weather conditions.
• Reliability and consistent attendance in a delivery role.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a 14-foot delivery van in diverse urban to rural routes across New England.
• Operate a 26-foot box truck with parking and loading dock maneuvers.
• Assist with loading/unloading and communicate with Logistics and Operations teams.
• Ensure vehicle safety checks and compliance with DOT and company policies.
• Deliver monthly meat subscriptions to members, following delivery Instructions.
• Coordinate on-the-fly delivery adjustments with the Member Experience team.
• Help with warehouse tasks on non-delivery days.

Location: Tewksbury, Ma

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 5:00am departure time

Pay Rate: $23.00 per hour

Operating rain, shine or snow, you will be challenged to navigate a variety of urban, suburban and rural delivery routes that change each day and range from Connecticut through Northern New Jersey. This is a great position dual position for anyone who loves to drive, see new areas of New England and is looking to get started with a delivery career - we will train interested candidates!

What You'll Do

• Safely drive a 14-foot delivery van in urban, suburban and rural areas in all weather across New England.
• Safely drive a 26ft box truck in urban, suburban and rural areas, including parallel parking and backing into tight loading docks
• Assist with loading and unloading your truck
• Regularly communicate with other Logistics and Operations team members
• Comply with all DOT and Walden safety policies, including daily safety checks of your assigned vehicles
• Assist with loading and unloading your delivery van
• Respectfully deliver monthly meat subscription shares to our members' homes, paying close attention to delivery instructions
• Collect prior month's delivery bags, re-fold and return them to the warehouse for re-use
• Answer basic customer service inquiries from Walden Local members during their home delivery
• Complete pre-departure and end-of-route paperwork regarding your route and the condition of your delivery vehicle to ensure any maintenance needs are documented for the Maintenance team
• Maintain the overall cleanliness of your delivery van by removing personal items, cleaning out any trash and promptly cleaning up any food or beverage spills promptly each day
• Coordinate on the fly delivery adjustments with our Member Experience team to ensure each member's monthly delivery goes smoothly
• Pitch in with miscellaneous warehouse tasks as needed on scheduled non-delivery days

What You'll Bring

• Passion for our mission to support local and sustainable food and agriculture
• Valid DOT medical card, or ability to get one prior to starting
• Home delivery, commercial driving or Lyft/Uber/Instacart/etc. experience
• Valid Driver's License
• A clean driving record for at least the past 3 years
• Ability to lift and carry 25-50 pounds while walking and climbing up and down stairs
• Comfort with driving and working in varying weather conditions
• A track record of excellent work attendance
• Willingness to get hands dirty and jump in to do whatever needs to get done

• Food or agriculture industry experience
• Delivery or commercial driving experience
