Job summary

Mass Audubon, the largest nature-based conservation organization in New England, seeks a Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations from Lincoln, MA. Responsibilities include journal entries, reconciliations, close processes, and GAAP compliance within a dedicated nonprofit team.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Accounting (CPA track a plus) and 2–4 years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field (CPA track a plus).
• 2-4 years of accounting experience; nonprofit exp is a plus.
• Solid understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and enter monthly journal entries.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet and income statements.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances.
• Support monthly, quarterly and annual close processes for timely reporting.
• Maintain supporting schedules and documentation for account balances.
• Record and reconcile cash receipts and deposits; perform bank reconciliations.
• Back up AR review/processing; ensure invoices and reimbursements are documented.
• Assist with audits, compliance and internal controls.
