Job summary

CLA Northeast Nonprofit team is hiring an Audit Director or Manager to join our in-office team based in CT (Hartford or Shelton) or Pittsburgh, PA. You will lead nonprofit engagements, plan, supervise, and ensure quality.

You should have a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance, CPA license, 6+ years in a large firm, and proven leadership to manage staff and communicate with clients.

Responsibilities

• Plan, supervise and control all phases of nonprofit engagements.

• Develop a trained team through recruitment, planning assignments and staff development.
• Supervise engagement letters and discuss terms with clients; estimate fees and obtain signed letters.
• Monitor time budgets and deadlines; report progress and recommendations to Engagement Principal.

Audit Director or Manager – Northeast Nonprofit team

CliftonLarsonAllen, LLP is hiring an Audit Director or Manager to join our CLA Northeast Nonprofit team. This is an in office position that can be based out of our Pittsburgh, PA, West Hardford, CT, or our Shelton, CT offices. In this role, you’ll work with CLA’s nonprofit clients and make an impact on your local community.

How you’ll create opportunities in this Audit Director or Manager role:

Assume responsibility for planning, supervising, and controlling all phases of the Firm’s nonprofit industry clients as delegated by Principals. Assume in-charge responsibility; plan the timing, staffing and execution of assurance engagements to promote the most efficient operation and deliver value to our clients. Lead the decision-making process for assigned engagements/clients; keep the Engagement Principal fully informed of major decisions and the engagement progress. Develop a responsible and trained team through assistance in recruiting, planning assignments, resolving problems, providing direct consultation to staff, evaluating staff performance, and acting as an instructor or discussion leader in professional development programs. Supervise preparation of the engagement letter for approval by the Engagement Principal, discuss the nature and terms of the assignment with the client, estimate fees, and ensure client signs and returns the engagement letter prior to the start of the engagement. Evaluate internal controls and audit programs prepared by staff, revise as necessary, and present to the Engagement Principal for approval. Follow the engagement progress through monitoring time budgets and deadlines for adherence; communicate important developments to the Engagement Principal along with facts, conclusions, and recommendations; provide ongoing attention to client management; and prepare final client meetings.

What you will need:

• You have a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• You have a minimum of 6 years of experience in a large professional services or public accounting firm, driving strategic management required.
• CPA license certification is required.
