Job summary

The Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga, TN is seeking an Assistant Controller to manage and support the Finance Department’s daily operations. You will handle accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, monthly closes, and financial reporting to ensure accurate, timely data for management and governance.

Responsibilities include coordinating reconciliations, assisting with annual budgeting and filings, and supporting the annual audit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
• Minimum of three years of related accounting or finance experience.
• Experience in a non-profit environment preferred.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and financial reporting experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and accounting software; Oracle NetSuite preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily Finance Department activities and coordination.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes and related financial activities.
• Assist with payroll-related processes and month-end procedures.
• Compile financial information from multiple systems into the accounting system.
• Prepare monthly financial reports reflecting position and activities.
• Perform reconciliations of designated general ledger and bank accounts.
• Assist with budget preparation for operating, benefits, and capital.
• Support government filings and the annual audit with documentation.
