Job description

Non-Traditional Environment (NTE) Security Manager, Amazon Corporate Security

Job ID: 10597128 | Amazon.com Services LLC

Amazon Leo is building a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites to deliver fast, low-latency broadband to unserved and underserved communities worldwide. Getting those satellites to orbit depends on secure operations at partner-operated launch, test and processing facilities around the world.

Amazon Corporate Security (ACS) is hiring a Non-Traditional Environments (NTE) Security Manager to lead physical security delivery for Amazon Leo’s operations at third-party and non-traditional Leo locations in the US and abroad. These include test labs, payload processing facilities, secure storage sites and temporary operating locations where Amazon must work within host organization constraints to deliver security. We're looking for a leader who lives Amazon's Leadership Principles, especially Customer Obsession, Ownership, Earn Trust and Bias for Action.

Reporting to the Amazon Leo Physical Security Sr. Manager, you'll own the delivery of ACS security services at sites that Amazon doesn't control. Your services protect Leo people, satellites, hardware, infrastructure, and intellectual property (IP) through influence, partnership and well-run vendor management. You'll work closely with the facility operator, the launch provider, local authorities and guard vendors. Inside Amazon, you'll work with Leo IP and Infrastructure Security, Trade & Compliance, Legal, Logistics and Leo mission teams. The environment is ambiguous and changes fast. Schedules move, requirements change, and you'll often be the most senior Amazon security leader on site.

Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be U.S. citizens to comply with U.S. government-imposed requirements related to the nature of the work and/or where it will be performed.

Key job responsibilities
  • Deliver best-in-class security services to meet business and security partner defined outcomes, focused on enhancing the safety and security of all Amazon employees, contractors, and visitors
  • Manage day-to-day security operations for a diverse portfolio of locations and customers with unique requirements in an ambiguous environment
  • Proactively audit and identify security gaps at Amazon Leo locations while managing audit action items to close, working under tight duration guidelines
  • Be the trusted security advisor and subject matter expert for all levels of Amazon and Amazon Leo employees in the assigned area of responsibility, through high-quality communication and excellent briefing skills
  • Implement and improve security plans, security systems, guarding operations, policies, and programs
  • Travel within the US and internationally for up to 45 days at a time to manage security delivery and build local partners
  • Coordinate physical security incident response and reporting
  • Respond to customer security concerns
  • Earn trust through key customer and stakeholder engagements, and liaison with external partners
  • Work cross functionally with Intellectual Property and Infrastructure Security, Legal, Trade & Compliance, EHS, and Leo business teams to establish scalable physical security standards that meet the businesses’ needs
  • Understand US Government regulatory requirements for security assurance and compliance
A day in the life
  • Oversee guarding operations and hold guarding vendors accountable for quality and frugality
  • Build relationships with internal and external security and Amazon Leo partners
  • Develop and monitor performance metrics to track and improve performance. Implement measurable processes to improve performance and communicate outcomes
  • Conduct site security assessments and identify trends in findings and develop and implement measures to address systemic issues
  • Plan and lead security readiness activities across sites
  • Manage cross-functional projects and operations. Drive team(s)/partners to meet program and/or product goals
  • Conduct initial incident investigations and collaborate with specialist security teams to support the customer
