Job summary

City University of New York's Bronx Community College Library is seeking two part-time Reference and Instruction Librarians. The successful candidates will guide the college community in accessing, evaluating, creating, and using library resources, reporting to the Chief Librarian as part of Learning Services.

These Non-Teaching Adjunct positions involve instructional and public service initiatives within the Library Department.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree is required.
  • MLS/MLIS or closely related discipline from an ALA-accredited institution is preferred; a second graduate degree is also preferred.
  • Ability to work with others for the good of the institution.

Completes non-teaching projects or complex work in support of a Campus or University administrative or academic department. This work is generally of a temporary nature and requires specialized experience or expertise.

CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION

Bronx Community College Library is seeking two part-time librarians to fill the positions of Reference and Instruction Librarian. The successful candidates will provide members of the college community with guidance and instruction in accessing, evaluating, creating, and using library resources.

Reporting to the Chief Librarian, the Non-Teaching Adjuncts will join the Library Department's Learning Services team and contribute to the library's instructional, research, and public service initiatives.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Providing reference and information literacy instructional service.
  • Sharing information with faculty and students related to information resources in all formats.
  • Communicating and collaborating with the faculty librarians supporting the advancement of best practices, new services, and new library information technologies.
  • Creating and maintaining instructional materials related to all library resources and services.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree required.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS), Master’s in Library Information Studies (MLIS), or closely related discipline from an ALA-accredited institution with a second graduate degree preferred. Also required is the ability to work with others for the good of the institution.

COMPENSATION

$51.94/hr - $56.21/hr

(Hourly rate will increase to $53.76/hr - $58.18/hr as of 9/1/26 per the PSC contract)
