Job summary

City of Santa Cruz is seeking Community Service Officers (non-sworn) to support patrol and public safety efforts. The role does not require prior law enforcement experience, but applicants must pass the POST Pellet-B test with a score of 46 or higher and attach test results with the application.

New CSOs are eligible for a $5,000 hiring bonus distributed across training milestones, plus referral incentives for employee referrals.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or tested equivalent.
• Verbal and written communication skills to take information from the public and relay clearly.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate data and tasks.

Responsibilities

• Takes and investigates low-risk crime and traffic reports.
• Coordinates documents and organizes investigative information for prosecution.
• Maintains records, handles routine patrol duties, and assists the public and merchants.
