Job summary

Shell is seeking a Non-Routine / Maintenance Planner for Monaca to deliver high-quality work execution plans for Non-Routine and Maintenance activities. Qualifications

  • Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for any employer
  • Experience in refinery or petrochemical plant maintenance planning/execution
  • 8+ years in Non-Routine Maintenance or Turnaround planning
  • Proficient with SAP, Primavera, or Prometheus STO Manager
  • Proficient with SharePoint and Digital Twin platforms
  • MS Office tools including Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams and Adobe
  • Understanding of ME and NRМ work processes (planning, scheduling, execution)
  • Knowledge of Shell Chemicals work processes (RCM, EI, IPF)
  • SAP planning and maintenance work order management
  • Clear, effective communication across org levels, strong organization and prioritization skills

Responsibilities

  • Create and continuously improve quality work execution plans

What’s the role

Shell is looking for Non-Routine /Maintenance Planner to join its team in Monaca.

The Non-Routine (NRM)/Maintenance (MTC) Planner is accountable for delivering high-quality work execution planning for Non-Routine/Maintenance work process to ensure safe, predictable, and cost-effective execution. The role integrates scope, schedule, materials, resources, and execution readiness into a single, integrated plan aligned with Shell Chemicals standards, process and practice requirements. The role supports execution by ensuring plans are complete, logic-driven, properly resourced, and execution-ready prior to field work, while driving continuous improvement through lessons learned and schedule optimization.

The Non-Routine/Maintenance Planner operates within the Shell Chemicals Core planning organization and reports to the Planning and Scheduling Lead. The role works closely with schedulers, execution leads, contractors, and multiple Shell disciplines to ensure all NRM/MTC work is fully planned, integrated, and ready for execution.

This role reports through the Shell Chemicals Core organization and has overall accountability for portfolio Planning.

Accountabilities
  • Create, edit, and continuously improve quality work execution plans in the work process tool suite (ie SAP, Prometheus, Primavera); take ownership of plan content and accuracy
  • Ensure work execution plans contain the correct number of tasks, logical task sequencing, and clear execution steps
  • Develop plans with accurate duration, resource-hours, tools, equipment, materials, and parts to enable realistic and efficient field execution
  • Avoid embedding contingency hours; ensure estimates reflect realistic execution needs
  • Review planning queues daily and manage planning backlog through efficient planning practices
  • Visit jobsites to validate scope, assess job complexity, and estimate manpower and execution requirements
  • Engage technical disciplines as needed to refine and clarify work scope.
  • Coordinate with Contracts and Procurement when preparing to bring vendors onsite
  • Order materials required for execution and ensure delivery aligns with required need dates. Validate accuracy of material upon delivery
  • Support Maintenance Team Leaders with documentation for shipping equipment offsite for repair or refurbishment
  • Review upcoming maintenance plans with Operations and NRM/Maintenance to identify special requirements or constraints
  • Obtain post-job feedback from NRM/Maintenance to validate task lists, logic, and man-hour accuracy and update plans accordingly
  • Attend maintenance planning and coordination meetings
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Planners, Schedulers, and OMCs throughout planning, scheduling, and execution
  • Assist, as required, with the development and optimization of weekly maintenance schedules
  • Support Shutdown, Turnarounds & Outages (STO) and special project work planning as needed or assigned
  • Field Coordinate non-routine and routine work scope as needed
  • Develop enhanced knowledge of Primavera to understand how work execution plans interface with schedules and provide scheduler backfill support when required
  • Provide support to NRM/Maintenance management for budget planning and cost-control activities
What you bring
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Strong Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) equipment background. Either craft or engineering experience with the E&I discipline
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in refinery or petrochemical plant Maintenance, Non-Routine Maintenance or Turnaround planning and/or execution
  • Proficient in SAP, Primavera, an/or Prometheus STO Manager
  • Skilled in SharePoint and/or Digital Twin platforms
  • Possesses working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, and Adobe applications
  • Strong understanding of Maintenance Execution (ME), and/or Non-Routine (NRM) work processes including planning, scheduling, and execution
  • Working knowledge of related Shell Chemicals work processes such as RCM, EI, and IPF
  • Skilled in SAP planning and maintenance work order management
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all organizational levels.

What we offer

The base salary range for this position is $103,000 - $155,000 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

  • For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs.
  • Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan.
  • Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.
  • Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance.
  • Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives.
  • For interns, eligible benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs; participation in a 401(k) plan; and paid leave for up to 11 paid holidays.
