Job summary

SA Recycling LLC is seeking a dependable Shredder Operator to join our scrap metal yard in the United States. You will load, unload, and operate shredding equipment while maintaining clean, safe work areas and adhering to LOTOTO and Fire Prevention procedures.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, ability to pass medical and background checks, and basic math proficiency. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, with good communication skills and reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Operate metal processing equipment using safe work habits and notify maintenance of malfunctions.
• Observe processing operations to detect malfunctions.
• Lift raw materials, finished products, and packed items manually or using hoists.
• Load and unload items from machines, conveyors, and conveyances.
• Safely clean equipment when jams occur.
• Follow all procedures (LOTOTO, Fall Prevention, Fire Prevention).
• Clean up work area at the end of shift; keep areas neat and orderly.
• Maintain regular attendance and punctuality as essential functions.
• Organize materials to maximize space and efficiency.
• Dispose of waste materials properly.
• Inspect to ensure cleanup is completed.
• Practice effective housekeeping for safety and hygienic conditions.

Qualifications

• Employees in this position prior to April 2014 are presumed to be qualified and are "grandfathered" into their positions.
• Must pass a medical physical and drug test
• Must pass a background check
• Preferred – high school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable
• Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus
• Ability to: communicate with others effectively; understand direction (written or oral) and use basic math skills as the job demands
