Job Description Summary

NEO (do not need EMT certification), under general supervision, and in accordance with Medical Control Board’s policy, procedure and protocol, performs specific tasks required for the effective and efficient care of behavioral health patients in a pre-hospital setting and/or intra-facility transfers; as an operator of a Basic Life Support/Non-Emergency Secure and Safe SUV. Exhibits courteous and professional behavior while interacting with co-workers, patients, families, health care professionals, and public safety personnel. Promotes and maintains a smooth working relationship between management and employees. Operates and maintains company equipment in a safe and professional manner. These transfers will receive security escorts in and out of the vehicle.

Patient Care and Documentation
  1. Reviews daily agenda of pre-scheduled calls, locates address on map, if time permits.
  2. Transports patients and/or parcels according to schedule.
  3. Works expediently to ensure availability of resources in order to maximize utilization and productivity.
  4. Produces accurate, legible, and complete documentation on all runs.
  5. Maintains designated vehicle in a clean manner inside and outside.
  6. Completes a check out list daily, before driving vehicle.

May access protected health information and other patient information only to the extent that is necessary to complete job duties.

Competitive Pay and Benefits with the following Shift Differentials
  • Monday-Thursday 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. $4.00 per hour
  • Friday, Saturday & Sunday 7:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. $5.00 per hour
  • Saturday & Sunday 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. $4.00 per hour
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
  1. High School diploma or equivalent required.
  2. Previous experience with psychiatric health-care patients preferred.
  3. Ability to complete an American Heart Association CPR and First Aid class within six months of employment. (Employer paid.)
  4. Ability to complete de-escalation training provided by the company within 1 month of hire.
  5. Demonstrated ability to read maps and a good knowledge of our service areas.
  6. Must possess a valid Driver’s License in state of employ, and be eligible for driving privileges based on current policies and procedures.
  7. Work requires the skills necessary to quickly and safely transport patient using available resources, prioritize requests, and assists with patient care as directed.
  8. Manages and copes effectively with stress related to the care of patients, families, and unpredictable situations within various care settings.
  9. Work requires interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with internal and external personnel in stressful situations and to act as a representative of MedCare to the public.
  10. Must be able to sit driving for long periods of time.
  11. Must be able to effectively enter and exit all vehicles (listed above) without assistance and be able to be properly secured in all vehicles in both the driving compartment and patient care areas.
  12. Must demonstrate alertness at all times.
  13. Must be able to withstand high amounts of stress in uncontrolled environments.
  14. Must maintain competency on assigned and alternate modes of transport.
Working Conditions

Works outdoors, in weather common to the region, on a regular basis. Exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue.
