Job summary

Transdev in Baltimore, MD, is seeking an experienced Paratransit Operator to provide safe, reliable transport for riders, with focus on customer service and compliance.

Responsibilities include safety checks, passenger assistance, adherence to routes and schedules, and teamwork with maintenance and dispatch.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED, a Maryland driver's license, a clean driving record, and willingness to pass background and drug tests.

Qualifications

• Must have excellent communication and friendly customer service.
• Driver with clean record and valid Maryland license.
• Willingness to undergo pre‑employment background and DOT‑level screenings.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport passengers across Baltimore and surrounding areas following routes and schedules.
• Greet passengers, collect fares, provide assistance for boarding and alighting.
• Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues.
• Enforce safety policies, seat belt use, and adhere to regulations.
• Additional duties as needed by dispatch and supervisor.

We are currently on the lookout for an experienced Paratransit Operator to join our elite team in Baltimore, Maryland. As a key member you will be entrusted with ensuring safe and comfortable transportation for our passengers, while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safety‑Focused Operations: Execute flawless operations transporting passengers throughout Baltimore and the surrounding area in a safe and courteous manner. Meticulously following designated routes and schedules, while adhering to stringent safety protocols and traffic regulations.
• Passenger Care: Greet passengers, ensure fare payment, exhibit exceptional care and assistance towards passengers, ensuring smooth boarding, comfortable rides, and timely disembarkation for all.
• Vehicle Vigilance: Champion vehicle safety through comprehensive pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, promptly reporting any maintenance issues, and maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and safety equipment readiness.
• Adherence to Protocols: Uphold company policies and procedures rigorously, encompassing seat belt enforcement, emergency response preparedness, and compliance with regulatory mandates.
• Other duties as required

Qualifications:

• 20 years or older
• High school diploma, GED or equivalent
• A valid Maryland Driver's License
• Minimum 3 years of driving experience
• Must have a satisfactory driving record
• Must pass a pre‑employment background check
• Excellent communication & customer service skills
• Availability to work days, evenings, weekends and overnight shifts as assigned
• Subject to a DOT drug testing and physical, including pre‑employment and random drug screens. DOT Regulation 49 CFR Part 40 does not authorize the use of Schedule I drugs, including cannabis, for any reason.
• Be eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship now or in the future (if based in the U.S.).

Physical Requirements:

The essential functions of this position require the ability to:

• Work outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions
• Sit for extended periods of time, ability to walk on varying terrains including sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces
• Push and pull objects up to 50 - 100 pounds
• Ability to lift items weighing up to 20 lbs
• Bend, kneel, or crouch to assist passengers as needed
• Withstand heavy traffic areas while performing the duties of the job
