Job summary

Reddy Ice in Vernon, CA is seeking a Route Driver to deliver ice to customers in non-CDL equipped vehicles. The role requires maintaining a clean vehicle, performing inspections, and following safety procedures.

POSITION PURPOSE :

This role accelerates business values by delivering ice to customers in vehicles that do not require a Commercial Driver's License. The route driver is assigned a specific geographic region and/or route to service. The delivery region, route, and type of equipment operated is subject to change depending on business needs.

Demonstrates our "True North" attributes: voice of the customer, respect for the individual, no nonsense communication and utilization of facts, servant leadership and has a continuous improvement mindset in every facet of leadership and daily interaction. Leads, collaborates and demonstrates the lean principles and utilizes the lean methodologies and tools to facilitate continuous process improvements and value creation for our customers, employees and shareholders. Actively utilizes lean tools (VSM, Kaizen, A3, etc.) to inform and assess business opportunities to drive continuous improvement. Lead and participate in Kaizen and value stream mapping activities.

Pay is $22 Per Hour

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate and maintain a clean company vehicle in a safe and professional manner.
• Perform pre/post trip inspections and operate the vehicle in accordance with company Standard Operating Procedures.
• Participate daily in the Daily Visual Management (DVM) process; reviews DVM results with other drivers.
• Unload, deliver, and rotate ice at customer and other designated locations using a safe, courteous, and service-oriented method.
• Produce invoices for each delivery and complete all other required paperwork.
• Responsible for the safe operation, working condition, and inventory of all driver "tools", including: handhelds, printers, handcarts, and handtrucks.
• Report all accidents and injuries, regardless of severity.
• Pick up equipment as directed.
• Follow all Standard Operating Procedures and processes.
• Make and assume other duties and responsibilities required or assigned by management.

OPERATING RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position requires a minimum of an operator's drivers license and at least two years of driving experience. This is a professional driver position and must driver carefully and courteously at all times. Must possess a clean driving record.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

No lead or supervisory responsibility.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

Must be able to drive in stressful environments. Unloads, loads, and rotates product in merchandisers. Required to lift 40 lbs throughout the day. Required to work in all weather conditions.
