Job summary

MercyOne Genesis is seeking a highly skilled Advanced Practice Provider (NP or PA) to join the Pulmonary Critical Care nocturnist team in Davenport, Iowa. The role focuses on overnight, on-site coverage for ICU patients with strong autonomy and decision-making.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Board certification as an NP or PA.
• Active or eligible for licensure in Iowa.
• Minimum of 1–2 years of ICU, critical care, or pulmonary experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and make sound clinical decisions in a high-acuity environment.
• Strong procedural skills preferred.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive overnight coverage for ICU patients at the Davenport campus.
• Perform cross-coverage and ongoing management of critically ill patients.
• Respond to acute changes in patient condition, including rapid responses and codes.
• Collaborate with on-call pulmonologists as needed while functioning with a high degree of autonomy.
• Perform procedures within scope of practice (e.g., central lines, arterial lines, intubations – depending on experience and privileging).
• Ensure accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
• Communicate effectively with nursing staff, respiratory therapy, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support continuity of care through thorough handoffs to daytime teams.
