Job summary

MedStar Montgomery Medical Center in Olney, MD, seeks an experienced Critical Care Physician Assistant to join our Nocturnist ICU team. This full-time role offers high autonomy, advanced procedural responsibilities, and leadership opportunities within a collaborative intensivist and multidisciplinary care environment.

The ICU handles a diverse post-surgical and medical population with neuro, cardiac, GI, renal and vascular cases.

Qualifications

• Certified Physician Assistant required.
• Minimum one year of ICU, Critical Care, Hospital Medicine, Emergency Medicine, SICU, MICU, Neuro ICU, Trauma ICU, or related inpatient experience preferred.
• Procedural competency including arterial line placement.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Pre-round and present during multidisciplinary ICU rounds.
• Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with intensivists.
• Continually assess and manage critically ill patients.
• Perform bedside procedures and manage acute clinical changes.
• Order and interpret laboratory studies, imaging, and medications.
• Lead family discussions and care coordination efforts.
• Lead Code Team responses and participate in Rapid Response events.
• Provide critical care consultation for unstable patients throughout the hospital.
• Evaluate patients for ICU admission and transfer.
