Job summary

Mercyhealth Hospital-Freeport in Freeport, IL seeks a Full-Time Critical Care Physician (Board-Certified/Eligible) to join our ICU team as an inpatient nocturnist. The role features 7 on/7 off, 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 p.m.

to 7:00 a.m., including weekends and holidays, with in-house and Tele-ICU coverage. The department supports Level 2 ICU care with an 8-bed unit and a strong Hospitalist team, focusing on high-acuity post-op, sepsis, and ventilation cases.

Qualifications

• MD/DO board-certified or board-eligible.
• Fellowship trained in Critical Care or Pulmonary/Critical Care.
• Eligible for Illinois medical licensure.
• Strong clinical expertise in high-acuity ICU settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient nocturnist coverage on 12-hour night shifts.
• Collaborate with hospitalists and ICU team to manage high-acuity cases.
• Participate in patient care planning and transfer decisions.
