Job summary

Hancock Health in Indiana is seeking a hospitalist nocturnist for a night program in a community hospital. The role runs 7pm–7am with a rotating schedule among three nocturnists, and patient census varies month to month with 3–7 admits per night.

Qualifications

• ICU-level care experience is required.
• Most patients are PCU or med-surg level care.
• Tele-ICU coverage is utilized 24/7 to assist the night team.

Responsibilities

• Provide nocturnist coverage from 7pm to 7am.
• Collaborate with daytime hospitalists for difficult decisions at night.
• Work with CRNAs for airway and ED physicians for IV access overnight.
• Participate in Tele-ICU support to manage the sickest patients.

• Shift 7pm - 7am.
• Rotation of one week on and 2 weeks off rotating with two other nocturnist team members (every 3 weeks).
• The hospital is a moderate sized community hospital, so census and admission numbers vary month to month and year to year averaging 3-7 admits per night.
• Supported by great daytime hospitalists who help assist you in difficult decisions at night.
• Supported by CRNAs for airway assistance and emergency department physicians for IV access concerns overnight.
• Experience with ICU level of care patients is required, however, most patients are PCU or med surg level of care.
• Tele-ICU physician coverage 24/7 - a great service that helps assist in taking care of our sickest patients.
