Job summary

Leidos is seeking a reliable NOC Engineer to join our Network Operations Center. You will monitor network performance, triage alerts, troubleshoot routing and hardware issues, and collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to resolve incidents swiftly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years hands‑on NOC/IT help desk or network admin experience, or 5 years without a degree.
  • Must have TS/SCI with active and current poly.
  • Solid understanding of routing/switching, OSI model, BGP/OSPF, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, VPNs.
  • Familiarity with enterprise vendor equipment (Cisco/Juniper) and Windows/Linux servers.
  • Strong problem solving, calm under pressure, and clear written/verbal communication.
  • Willingness to support 12-hour NOC shifts (Mon–Fri)

Responsibilities

  • Real-time monitoring of network performance and server health using monitoring tools.
  • Incident response: detect, triage, and escalate issues with timely updates to leadership.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and connectivity faults (routers/switches/firewalls/VPNs/servers).
  • Document tickets thoroughly and escalate unresolved issues to Tier 2/3 teams.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and patch deployments.
  • Maintain shift logs and update SOPs and network documentation.

Description

Leidos is seeking a reliable, detail-oriented NOC Engineer to join our Network Operations Center. You will serve as the first line of defense for network availability, performance, and stability. You will monitor systems, triage alerts, troubleshoot complex routing and hardware issues, and collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to resolve incidents swiftly.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performing with the following duties:
  • Real-Time Monitoring: Watch over network performance, server health, bandwidth utilization, and core infrastructure via enterprise monitoring tools, such as SolarWinds and Splunk.
  • Incident Response: Detect anomalies, analyze alerts, triage severity levels, and initiate immediate troubleshooting or escalation. Provide timely situational awareness to leadership and affected communities and communicate effectively with the O&M team.
  • Troubleshooting & Resolution: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity faults (routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, servers).
  • Escalation Management: Document trouble tickets thoroughly and elevate unresolved, high-priority issues to Tier 2/3 engineering teams.
  • Maintenance & Patching: Perform scheduled network maintenance, software updates, and security patch deployment during designated maintenance windows.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate shift logs, update standard operating procedures (SOPs), and generate network.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience: Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of hands‑on experience working in a NOC, IT Help Desk, or network administration environment OR 5 years of experience in lieu of degree
  • Clearance: Must have a TS/SCI with active and current poly to be considered
  • Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of core networking fundamentals, such as, the OSI Reference model, routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, and VPN technologies).
  • Hardware/OS: Familiarity with enterprise networking vendor equipment (e.g., Cisco, Juniper) and operating systems (Linux/Windows Server).
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional problem‑solving abilities, calm under pressure during major outages, and strong written and verbal communication.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Willingness to support NOC schedule. NOC Team provides 12 hour per day - Monday through Friday - Individuals work 8-hour shifts.
Preferred Education & Certifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Relevant entry‑to‑mid‑level certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate), or equivalent.

May be expected to undergo psychological and medical testing.

Pay Range

$59,150.00 - $106,925.00
