Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a related field.

  • Experience in structural analysis by NMR-based and Mass Spectrometry methods.
  • Working knowledge of NMR instrumentation and hardware.
  • Familiarity with HPLC and purification techniques.
  • Broad knowledge of analytical software such as Bruker, Agilent, ACD Labs.
  • Proficiency with basic NMR upkeep and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with lab setup logistics after site moves.
  • Familiarity with workflows for parallel purification and analysis.

Job description

Pfizer is seeking an NMR Scientist to join their dynamic team in San Diego, CA! The NMR Scientist in the Oncology Analytical and Synthesis Technologies Open Access group; you will be at the center of a pivotal operation within Medicinal Chemistry. They will be involved in the structural analysis of a broad range of achiral/chiral small molecule compounds primarily through NMR spectroscopy as well as responsible for implementing novel technologies/workflows to expedite such processes. They will provide key contributions to the implementation of analytical chemistry strategies through development and execution of innovative techniques that help to revolutionize expedite our approach to the discovery and development of small molecule and synthetically derived drugs.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with NMR spectrometers
  • Solve complex regio- and stereoisomer structures by NMR
  • Lead and coordinate NMR lab relocation activities
  • Contribute to achievement of immediate work group goals and collaborate with other team members.
  • Build effective partnerships with other research lines, in particular synthetic medicinal chemistry, technology, pharmaceutical sciences and process chemistry groups.
  • Develop efficient approaches to the structural elucidation of primarily small molecule compounds through developing expertise in NMR-based methodologies.
  • Drive the utilization of the most contemporary and effective analytical/purification instrumentation combined with automated technologies.
  • Communicate work clearly and concisely to internal stakeholders through written and verbal communications
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry or related field, with demonstrated NMR structure elucidation experience
  • 2+ years of experience in a related field
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in compound structural analysis by NMR-based and Mass Spectrometry methods
  • Working knowledge of NMR-instrumentation and hardware.
  • Familiarity with standard laboratory techniques and working knowledge of HPLC and purification techniques.
  • Broad knowledge of various analytical software packages (e.g. Agilent, ACD Labs, Bruker, etc).
  • Proficiency with basic NMR instrument upkeep and troubleshooting issues.
  • Experience with logistics around lab set-up after a site move.
  • Familiarity with development/execution of workflows for the parallel purification and analysis of compound libraries.
Location/Schedule
  • This is an onsite role based in San Diego, CA
  • Monday - Friday; 40 hours per week

In addition, this role will be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements.
