Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Data Scientist to join our team to provide support specializing in natural language processing and associated data preparation. The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in Java and Python.

This position in McLean, VA requires a TS/SCI with polygraph. Key responsibilities include maintaining legacy Java applications, refactoring back end systems, writing scalable code and building REST APIs using Spring and related tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 9+ years of experience, or Master’s with 7+ years, or PhD/JD with 4+ years.
• Strong Core Java skills including OOP, multithreading and JVM memory management.
• Experience with Spring and Spring Data JPA.
• Familiarity with Eclipse, Maven/Gradle, Git and Jenkins.
• Experience with Oracle, Apache Tomcat, AWS Cloud and Linux.
• TS/SCI with polygraph is required.

Responsibilities

• Assess, maintain and rewrite legacy Java applications.
• Refactor and extend back-end systems.
• Write clean, scalable, and efficient code for business applications.
• Leverage frameworks to build backend apps and REST APIs.
• Write and optimize queries across relational and non-relational databases.
• Use test libraries such as JUnit and Mockito to ensure stability.
