Job summary

Amazon Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) Data Services is seeking a Language Engineer to lead data collection, annotation, and language modeling efforts. You will design tasks, set quality targets, and coordinate cross-functional data work across product teams and data scientists.

You will analyze language data, build data analysis tools with Python, and collaborate with scientists and engineers to evaluate model performance.

Qualifications

• Experience with language annotation and data markup.
• Experience with one or more scripting language (e.g., Python, KornShell).
• Experience with speech and text language data in multiple languages.
• Experience working in a fast-paced, team environment.
• Masters’s or higher degree in a relevant field (computational linguistics or equivalent field with computational analysis).
• 2+ years experience in computational linguistics or language data processing.
• Excellent communication, strong organizational skills and very detailed oriented.

Responsibilities

• Design data collection tasks and ensure quality targets and mechanisms; coordinate data collection efforts and deliverables.
• Analyze and extract language-related insights from large data volumes.
• Build tools or prototypes for data analysis or data authoring using Python or similar scripting languages.
• Use modeling tools to bootstrap or test new functionalities.
• Collaborate with scientists and software engineers to evaluate language model performance.
• Handle competing data requests from various customers.
