Job summary

Air Products in Odessa, TX is seeking an experienced Operations Technician to monitor and control nitrogen production processes at an ASU site. You will oversee utility systems, compressors, rotating equipment, and the DCS, performing preventive maintenance and maintaining water chemistry.

This 8-hour shift position includes on-call coverage nights and weekends, reporting to the Site Manager. The role emphasizes safe, reliable operation and adherence to safety, health, environmental and quality

Qualifications

• Experience in operations, maintenance, or monitoring of industrial process plants.
• Ability to read/understand piping and instrumentation drawings.
• Electrical, instrument or mechanical maintenance experience.
• Basic computer proficiency with Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Team-oriented with a positive demeanor and safety focus.
• Desire and ability to work collaboratively in a team.
• Commitment to safety, integrity and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance tasks, safety inspections, and plant log readings.
• Maintain online training program requirements.
• Maintain water chemistry.
• Solve plant process upsets using DCS trends.
• Inspect work areas for hazards and mechanical issues.
• Maintain clean, safe work and storage areas.
• Troubleshoot equipment and equipment issues.
• Issue safety work permits and perform lockout/tagout.
• Follow all safety, health, environmental and quality procedures.
• Attend monthly safety meetings and update operating procedures as required.
• Contribute to Operational Excellence for safe, reliable operation.
