Job summary

CVR Energy, Inc. is seeking a plant operator to ensure continuous nitrogen processing operations are safe and reliable. You will monitor control devices, troubleshoot issues, and identify hazards in production.

The role requires strong math skills, effective communication with team members, and willingness to work rotating shifts while complying with safety protocols. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate Degree or vocational/technical training in mechanical related field preferred.
  • Fluent in English, oral and written required.

Responsibilities

  • Load rail cars and tank trucks with loading hoses.
  • Monitor instruments, flow meters, and indicators; verify process conditions.
  • Regulate control settings and adjust equipment as needed.
  • Operate chemical processes or systems via control boards or semi-automatic equipment.
  • Read and record operating data, instrument readings, and test results.
  • Analyze operating data to determine equipment efficiency.
  • Shut down equipment during emergencies as directed by supervision.
  • Work rotating shift schedules.
  • Climb stairs and work on elevated platforms and racks at heights over 200 feet.
  • Work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Report progress, concerns, and questions to supervisor.

Duties include, but are not limited to, monitoring control devices, troubleshooting, and identifying and controlling potential hazards associated with production.

Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate Degree or vocational/technical training in mechanical related field preferred
Experience Requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge of advanced mathematics
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with team members
  • Fluent in English, oral and written required
  • Ability to adjust schedule to meet business needs
Major Accountabilities
  • Load rail cars and tank trucks which requires use of connection and disconnection of loading hoses
  • Monitor recording instruments, flow meters, panel lights and other indicators while listening for warning signals to verify conformity of process conditions
  • Regulate control settings and make necessary adjustments on equipment
  • Control or operate chemical processes or systems of machines using panel boards, control boards, or semi-automatic equipment
  • Accurately read and record operating data including instrument readings, process conditions and test results
  • Analyze operating data to determine equipment operating efficiency
  • Regulate or shut down equipment during emergency situations, as directed by supervisory personnel
  • Ability to work rotating shift schedules
  • Must be able to climb stairways, ladders and work on elevated platforms and pipe racks at elevations over 200 feet
  • Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Regularly communicate with supervisor work progress, concerns and questions
