Job summary

Span Alaska Transportation is seeking a Yard Hostler/Warehouse professional to load and unload freight safely during the night shift (Sunday through Wednesday, 10 hours). You will operate yard tractors, organize trailer parking, and ensure road readiness of equipment and loads.

You will inspect trailers, verify hazmat documentation, and assist customers while maintaining adherence to safety policies. Prior forklift operation and documentation skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills with customers and colleagues.
• Good reading comprehension for schedules, maps, and hazmat docs.
• Ability to read work orders and determine material/equipment needs.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight safely and efficiently.
• Operate yard tractors and manage parking/storage of trailers.
• Perform nightly shift duties (Sunday-Wednesday, 10 hours).
• Inspect trailers for secured loads and hazmat placards.
• Assist customers and complete paperwork accurately.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness; participate in safety meetings.
