Job summary

Performance Foodservice is seeking Warehouse Selector candidates in Swedesboro, NJ. You will pick and move product between loading docks and within the warehouse, using pallet jacks, forklifts, and other equipment to fulfill customer orders.

You will work Sundays through Thursdays starting at 6:00 pm, with a 90-day option to switch to four days a week. Compelling benefits start Day 1, with growth opportunities in a safety-conscious, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to work scheduled/assigned shifts, including overtime.
• Ability to stand, walk, reach, and lift repeatedly.
• Ability to lift 10–35 lbs regularly and up to 60–100 lbs depending on location.
• Ability to work in multi-temperature environments (dry, cooler, freezer).
• Ability to pass a post-offer drug test.
• Pass criminal background check in post job offer process.
• Ability to become EPJ certified within the new-hire training period.
• Ability to complete required training independently.

Responsibilities

• Reviews work schedule, obtains supplies required to perform the work and prepare for operations.
• Performs safety check on pallet jack/forklift to ensure safety devices function.
• Puts on all required PPE and safety gear.
• Places pallets on pallet jack and operates along assigned racks to locate products.
• Transports completed palletized orders to shipping dock staging area and may shrink-wrap pallets for staging.
• Removes batteries, replaces with charged batteries, and completes vehicle inspection checklist.
• At end of shift, secures all equipment and completes required paperwork.
• Meets productivity and accuracy standards per location and guidelines.
• Follows safety policies and reports unsafe conditions immediately.

Position Summary

Warehouse associates are the foundation to our company’s success. They work actively, safely, and independently to maintain the efficient flow of products through our distribution process, while ensuring quality standards. As a Selector, you will select and move product between the loading dock and the warehouse and within the warehouse. You may also utilize company provided equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, tuggers, carts, etc.

The Selector selects cases and other containers of food and non-foods products to fill customer orders from multi-level rack warehouse storage systems. Items are placed on pallets and completed orders are moved to the loading dock staging area with an electric pallet jack / forklift, wrapped, labeled, and readied for shipment in a timely manner.

Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to

• Reviews work schedule, obtains supplies required to perform the work and prepare for operations.


• Performs safety check on pallet jack / forklift to be used and ensure that all other safety devices are functioning properly.


• Puts on all required Personal Protective Equipment and Safety Gear.


• Places pallets on pallet jack and operates along assigned multi-level racks and locate products according to order sheets.


• Manually places the appropriate stock items on pallet from pick slots and racks as required. Uses single and/or double pallets as directed.


• Transports completed palletized customer order to shipping dock staging area. May be required to shrink-wrap pallet for staging.


• Removes batteries requiring recharging, replace with charged batteries, or attach re-charger and complete vehicle inspection checklist.


• At the end of the shift, secures all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.


• Meets required productivity and accuracy standards per location and company guidelines.


• Follows all preferred work methods, safety policies and procedures per company guidelines.


• Ensures work area is safe and report any unsafe conditions and/or acts immediately.


• Performs other related duties as assigned.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Strong attention to detail, including the ability to identify product variances, lot codes, and location numbers.


• Strong teamwork, communication and reliability - including consistent attendance and punctuality.

• Ability to lift, stack, and/or pull product weighing 10–35 lbs. regularly and up to approximately 60–100 lbs. (location dependent)


• Ability to work in multi-temperature environments (dry, cooler, freezer)

• Pass criminal background check in post job offer process


• Ability to become EPJ certified within the new-hire training period


• Ability to complete required training independently
