Job summary

Performance Food Group is seeking a warehouse order selector to pick cases, stage pallets, and prepare shipments in a multi-temperature distribution center in Augusta, Maine. You will operate a pallet jack, follow safety rules, and work Sunday through Thursday starting at 5pm or 6pm.

The role emphasizes accuracy, teamwork, reliability, and the ability to lift 10–100 lbs, with overtime and safety training. Competitive pay with benefits begins day one and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work scheduled/assigned shifts, including required overtime.
  • Stand, walk, reach, and lift repeatedly throughout the shift.
  • Lift 10–35 lbs regularly and up to 60–100 lbs location dependent.
  • Work in multi-temperature environments (dry, cooler, freezer).
  • Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
  • Become Electric Pallet Jack certified within training period.
  • Complete required training independently.

Responsibilities

  • Review schedule, gather supplies, and prepare for operations; perform safety checks on equipment.
  • Meet productivity and accuracy standards per location and guidelines.
  • Move pallets on pallet jack along multi-level racks and locate products per order sheets.
  • Place stock on pallets from pick slots and racks; use single or double pallets as directed.
  • Transport completed pallets to shipping dock; shrink-wrap as needed.
  • Ensure shift end paperwork is completed and equipment secured.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Select cases and other containers of food and non-foods products to fill customer orders from multi-level rack warehouse storage systems. Items are placed on pallets and completed orders are moved to the loading dock staging area with an electric pallet jack/forklift, wrapped, labeled and readied for shipment in a timely manner observing all safety regulations and ensuring all quality standards are met while maintaining the efficient flow of product through the production process. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duties assigned to best serve the company.

Position Responsibilities
  • Follow all preferred work methods, safety policies and procedures per company guidelines. Ensure work area is safe and report any unsafe conditions and/or acts immediately.
  • Review work schedule, obtain supplies required to perform the work and prepare for operations. Perform a safety check on pallet jack/forklift to be used and insure that all other safety devices are functioning properly. Put on all required Personal Protective Equipment and Safety Gear.
  • Meet required productivity and accuracy standards per location and company guidelines.
  • Place pallets on pallet jack and operate along assigned multi-level racks and locate products according to order sheets.
  • Manually place the appropriate stock items on pallet from pick slots and racks as required. Use single and/or double pallets as directed.
  • Transport completed palletized customer order to shipping dock staging area. May be required to shrink-wrap pallet for staging.
  • Remove batteries requiring recharging, replace with charged batteries, or attach re-charger and complete vehicle inspection checklist. At the end of the shift secure all equipment and complete all necessary paperwork.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
  • Experience working in high-volume, productive-driven environments with established accuracy and production standards.
  • Strong attention to detail, including the ability to identify product variances, lot codes, and location numbers.
  • Strong teamwork, communication and reliability - including consistent attendance and punctuality.

  • Ability to become Electric Pallet Jack certified within the new-hire training period
  • Ability to complete required training independently
Preferred qualifications
  • 6+ months of physical labor within the last year (i.e. order selecting, loading/unloading, landscaping, construction, etc.)
